Description: Redemption is a project located in Huntington, Long Island NY. The proposal was to create a memorial celebrating the town’s rich African American history by memorializing historical and contemporary figures using their own words. Panels of corten steel 7 feet tall are punctured with quotes from townspeople. The arrangement of the panels took many iterations, starting from 3 flat walls, to eventually resting as two curved walls, creating space within two ghost circles. The one wall will form shadows on the other, casting outlines of the quotes, adding to the living history of the town, and creating conversations between the quotes. Project is set to break ground Spring 2024.
